We have been watching this movie at least once a year for 13 years. It was especially good when everybody in the family was bummed out or just needed to lighten up a bit.Movie Review: Shirley MacLaine and Teri Garr were a great team!

Shirley and Teri were wonderful together in this movie! Teri was wonderful doing this role as in other role she's done. Shirley must have done so much hilarious stuff that one time I saw it, I feel off the bed and choked because of the funninest things she did. All in all, this was a great movie and one Shirley and Teri's best movies.Movie Review: Shirley & Teri... A GREAT team!

This movie is funny, different, and exciting. Shirley MacLaine does a great job at playing her character as se always does. It is well worth buying. Teri Garr and Shirley MacLaine are a great team and preform wonderfully together.
Summary of Waiting for the Light [VHS]
"Jesus hits like an atom bomb," or so claims the spirited gospel tune that opens this inspired tale of practical jokes and providence during the Cuban Missile Crisis. The criminally underused Teri Garr is marvelous as the single mom who moves her irrepressibly theatrical Auntie Z (Shirley MacLaine in gypsy fortune teller regalia) and two prank-loving kids from Chicago to rural Washington State. Promises of good behavior to the contrary, Auntie Z whips up a flash powder and sleight-of-hand gag for their bitter hermit of a neighbor. A twist (of divine intervention?) transforms the prank into a holy vision and the rush of faith in their reborn neighbor spreads as the cold war heats up. Writer-director Christopher Monger refuses to ridicule any of his characters in this unjustly neglected comedy, a smart, sly, and ultimately profound portrait of the power of faith and forgiveness in times of fear. --Sean AxmakerComedy Video
