VHS Movie Reviews of "The Birds, The Bees, And Me" for Boys [VHS]Movie Review: Good video Summary: 4 StarsWe liked the video. It was very informative. It was not embarrassing or humiliating. It made "the talk" with my preteen sons so much easier.
Movie Review: Not worth the price Summary: 1 StarsI did not find this video helpful at all. I had already covered those topics with my 8-year-old. I was hoping it would go a little beyond the absolute basics of boy and girl differences. That was $25 (plus shipping) down the drain since it did not even add to anything I taught my son.
Movie Review: Great resource Summary: 4 StarsWith our society becomong so sexualized, it is imperative for all parents to be proactive in discussions of sex, puberty and child birth. These videos allow all parents to intelligently talk with their children regarding these topics while creating a solid foundation for future discussions on these topics. Great job by the creators for putting this tool out there for all parents to use.
Movie Review: An excellent video! Summary: 5 StarsI purchased this video because I wanted to broach the subject of sex with my son who is entering fifth grade. Many kids do start experimenting by fifth and sixth grade, and this is a perfect age to let them know what sex is all about. The video covers the topic of puberty in both boys and girls, as well sexual intercourse (term is not used). Drawings are used to show the "sensitive" topics. The video talks about sex as a means to produce babies between married couples, and the teenager giving the information describes sex in a way that seemed to promote abstinence. At the end, a doctor sums up by telling the viewer to never let anyone touch them in a way that makes them uncomfortable. Also, the video mentions repeatedly that parents are the best source of information about any further questions they may have about the topic.I purchased The What's Happening to My Body Book for Boys with the video, which covers FAR more about sex and puberty than my son is ready for, but I'll keep it on the shelf so that he can access the information when he is ready. For now, though, the video was perfect... no controversial subjects, and not too much information. I highly recommend this video.
Movie Review: kids like videos! Summary: 5 StarsI thought the birds and bees video was great! It was nice to have an alternative to written material. I thought the content was presented at a perfect level for 8-14 year olds-very well done!!

Each video (one version for girls and one version for boys) will replace that awkward, embarrassing, task of introducing puberty, sex and childbirth to your pre-teen child.
