I saw this on Broadway and knew the music really well so I thought I would get it to see how well they were able to get it on film. The answer is just OK not the best cast and not the best production but the music is still good. Great music, amazing cast, well-recorded - the only thing better is to see Smokey Joe's Cafe live at El Portal Theatre in the San Fernando Valley - original cast memebers DeLee Lively and Robert Torti will be in it with TC Carson from Living Single, Sharon Catherine Blanks (formerly Sharon Brown) from Dreamgirls, Rent, and Joseph... on Broadway, Jackie Sieden from Jersey Boys and Hairspray, and more...[...]Movie Review: Love that Lieber and Stoller

I was lucky enough to see the show on Broadway back in 1999 and had a great time enjoying the music I had grown up with once again. This is a high energy musical review of two of our most prolific American song writing teams. There music has spanned several generations and been recorded by some of the greats: from Big Mama Thornton to Elvis, to Ben E King.
If your looking for a truly fun few hours of entertainment, This is an ideal pick.

You know that rock & roll has staying power when it can survive even the homogenization that comes from being performed on Broadway. So it is with this live performance of a Broadway revue that celebrated the music of Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, one of the finest songwriting teams ever to have hits with Elvis Presley, Ben E. King, the Drifters, the Coasters, and everyone else who mattered in the early days of rock. Everything from "Hound Dog" to "Charlie Brown," from "I'm a Woman" to "On Broadway" is included in this video recording of the Broadway hit. But despite energetic performances by a cast of five men and four women, there's little of the raw and plenty of the preprocessed in a show that wouldn't be out of place in a Las Vegas showroom.
