Movie Review: Great for Kids of All Ages

I admit it, my fifteen-month-old daughter loves this movie so much that i have memorized all of the cute, catchy songs. the storyline is easy to follow for the older children, but the songs and animation alone are enough to entrance my restless daughter for the full twenty-four minutes. overall a great investment for any parent.

My daughter, 6 years old, loves this video very much. She watch the original language vesion(in english) every week. She has become intimate with this video series, she has read "Madeline" storybook in korean version, published in Korea, last year. I think, my daughter has become clever and brave like Madeline.

Movie Review: Best Madeline Yet !!!!

This is BY FAR the best of the Madeline videos! The music is phenominal! I find myself even singing the cute little tunes around the house! It is a must for all Madeline fans! In short, Madeline and Pepito get left behind at the carnival. They temporarily join the circus and realize it's not as fun as they thought it would be and soon become homesick. Don't worry kids, it's a happy ending!

Madeline and the Gypsies is a favorite at our house among a certain age group. The songs are clever and singable for young people. The plot has just enough suspense without being to scary. It teaches correct behavior with suprisingly little self-rightousness, allowing the parents to discuss the finer details if needed. Basically, we just think it is fun to watch.

Summary of Madeline and the Gypsies [VHS]

After a pleasant trip to the circus, Madeline and her buddy Pepito decide to make it their life's work and run off with the traveling caravan of gypsies in this colorful 24-minute installment of the Madeline series, based on author Ludwig Bemelmans's original story. When the stowaways are discovered, a kindly "gypsy mama" takes them under her wing. Curiously, neither child is missed until bedtime, allowing them a good head start and the beginnings of a performance career in a lion suit dubbed "Madelito." The kids eventually get homesick and are tracked down by Pepito's parents, Miss Clavel, and Madeline's class, but in the meantime there are clowns, a strongman, an elephant, and plenty of catchy songs. --Kimberly Heinrichs
