Movie Review: great workout at any age or level
Summary: 4 Stars

I am 57 years old and have been doing this tape as well as several other of Denise Austin's workouts for many many years. It does not matter what age you are or what "level". There are days when I need more of a workout and days when I don't. This one is right in the middle. It works every major muscle in your body and has certainly kept me firm and toned. I just wish it was available in DVD.

Denise does a great job working all of your muscles in this workout. I personally am not annoyed by her perkiness, in fact I find her to be quite motivating to keep going. There is a great ab section she does at the end.

I don't usually rate items, but I have to say this was the best workout ever. I had not worked out all winter and my legs and arms were really sagging (I am 58). I did this workout every other day for two weeks and saw a wonderful change in my body. This is the one workout that I can do and really see a drastic change. Thank you Denise!!!

I wish Denise would release this workout on DVD! I love the outdoor setting, but most importantly the pacing of the exercises is terrific! She doesn't go at lightening speed (like some of her other workouts) and she does enough reps for you to feel the burn. A very worthwhile routine, that does a body good!

My all time favourite toning video (and I have tried heaps)! I have had this for tape for about 5 years, and while MANY other tapes have come and gone from my routine, I keep coming back to this one. It works. I even have a back-up copy ready for when I eventually wear out my original copy! I haven't found the problems other people have mentioned on here, all I can say is that it's worth every cent.

The good
1. Grows with you (eg. at first I couldn't do all the pushups even on my knees, but not I am doing the first five as regular pushups and the rest on my knees).
2. Denise doesn't have breast implants (Hooray for Denise!!)
3. I always get sucked in by infomercials, and in this video Denise sells exercise. I love drowning my brain with her constant positive talk about the benefits of exercise, it really motivates me.
4. I have beautiful muscle tone now, particularly my arms
5. I get bored of the same exercise easily, yet I do this tape once- twice a week and look forward to it.
6. The beautiful beach scenes.
7. The proper warm up and and cool down prevent muscle pain.
8. Denise gives though instruction
9. You don't need a bench, just a chair and some weights
10. It's simple
11. It isn't so hard that I never use it, but it is challenging
12. I feel awesome once I have done it, and excited about the results.
13. You don't waste time standing around while the instructor yaps, you are moving the whole time.
14. She alternates the body parts she works on so that you get a rest.
15. The time goes quite quickly

The bad
1. I can't just pay Denise to exercise for me

This 40-minute 1997 video presents fit and lean Denise Austin on a beach leading you and her two assistants (one man, one woman) through a muscle endurance and strengthening workout with weights. Depending on your level, you might choose weights of one to 10 pounds. You want your muscles to fatigue after Austin's 13 to 18 controlled repetitions of each exercise. This workout is more challenging and more technique-oriented then most of Austin's. Austin switches muscle groups non-stop until you've worked all your major upper- and lower-body muscles. She gives plenty of technique and alignment tips so that you know how to do each exercise correctly. You'll need a bench or some kind of platform for some of the exercises. You can grow with this video--as you get stronger, use more weight. --Joan Price
