VHS Movie Reviews of Cloud Waltzing [VHS]Movie Review: 3 1/2 stars Summary: 3 StarsI gave it 3 1/2 stars because the leading man is HUNK!! Haha, actually I sorta enjoyed the movie but it was slow at times. I thought it was sweet but naturally it could be a little cheesy (at the end especially!) but it was still enjoyable to me. Now don't get me wrong I loved the ending, but the rational/cynical part of me was like, barf master! But my remaining romantic side was like: Awwwww......!!! The basic gist of the story is that the heroine leaves to interview this reclusive millionaire but she herself has a secret of her own, as well as he.
Oh and did I already say Fran?ois-Eric Gendron is a freaking hunk here!!!! I don't normally like Frenchmen but he looks HOT, and his accent wasn't too flamboyant or anything but uh, he was hot. ~_~
Movie Review: About what I expected it to be Summary: 3 StarsThere are a few things that would have made this movie far more 'watchable' as far as I was concered--as this appears to have been made on a shoestring budget. Firstly, I couldn't understand alot of was being said at various parts of the movie due to the audio not being as crisp as it should have been, the lighting for the night scenes was HORRIBLE. (not to mention other lighting faux pas) Essentially 'romantic' scenes left me wanting night vision goggles.
The other complaint I have is more directoral than technical, the very loooong drawn out scences, that I assume were supposed to be romantic--I did enjoy the music for this though, it fit well with what was going on in the scene and often took the place of missing dialogue (it seemed).
The story is rather silly (especially towards the end with all of the big reveals)--but its a harlequin, so I'm not expecting anything less than silly. Our heroine, Meredith is rather whiney--I didn't see one redeeming characteristic in her, essentially she is a basketcase. Her medicine/ hero, Francois is a better actor (and better looking) than she, he really is a very good romance novel hero. And his only main flaw seems to be finding her attractive, I enjoyed his character. Along with the other crazy american in the film (who is rather slimy and yet, also sort of Puckish).
I wouldn't call this romantic, but I enjoyed it. The ending scene had me in stiches though, as it was just so absurd. (But totally what I wanted to happen--being the horrible movie lover that I am).
I'm not sure I need to watch this again though (Even though I own it now...)

If you love Harlequin books...
You'll love this Harlequin romance on videocassette.
A romance that will make your heart soar, Cloud Waltzing tells the tale of a man's passion and a woman's liberation set amongst the magnificent vineyards of France. American freelance journalist Meredith Tolliver (former "Dynasty" TV star Kathleen Beller) struggles to overcome a mysterious illness while she breaks free of her domineering father. When she journeys to the spectacular Chateau de la Treyne to try to interview a reclusive French millionaire, she undergoes a startling metamorphosis. Can she overcome her fear of flying to be with the hot-air ballooning millionaire? Can love fly high above the French countryside? The surprising ending will have your spirits soaring.
