VHS Movie Reviews of Bryan Kest - Power Yoga, Intensive Body Sculpting [VHS]Movie Review: Bryan delivers Summary: 5 StarsI've been practicing on and off for 12 years and I'm glad to have this work out at home. This is a strenuous and energizing work out with a challenging mix of asanas - one or two were new for me. Just like most intense yoga work outs, it may take some time to be able to do certain poses, however, I'm sure you'll enjoy the challenge. The only drag is there are several minutes of dialogue at the begin you have to skip through before the work out actually begins. Highly recommended.
Movie Review: fabulous Summary: 5 StarsAfter being disappointed with many yoga classes, I found Bryan's first series and loved the entire series. This tape I have had for just over a month and I LOVE it! It is challenging and focused --- and offers a great class for both beginners and seasoned yogis! I love the 'tone' and music better on the Energize, Tone & Sweat videos --- but this is still a great workout!
Movie Review: He's Talking Faster, But It's Still Bryan and Still Cool Summary: 5 StarsBryan takes a slightly different approach here, with some new poses or slightly changed poses which will hit your body in some new ways. I was impressed by the innovations Bryan introduces while still remaining true to the core practice of yoga. I love the original 3-tape series, and this tape provides a nice, challenging change of pace. If you are a fan of the first three Kest videos, you might be surprised how a little change can stimulate new growth all over again! And most importantly, it's still Yoga and it still leaves you feeling great.
Movie Review: A Good Workout, Ignore the cheap set Summary: 5 StarsHaving been a big fan of Brian Kest's 1995 series, I had been waiting for a new video. I admit that I did buy this video with some skepticism, and the first time that I did this video, I will admit that I initially felt disappointed. The set looks cheaper, and Kest does not refer to the poses by the Hindi names, and it seemed as though he were capitalizing on the popularity of yoga to sell this video and sell himself out. But it doesn't matter. Once I started doing this video more regularly, I realized that for those who are not as flexible, the modifications are a real help. what I like about his original video, no hand holding, is very intimidating to a lot of people I know. If you are familiar with his original series, expect it to be a bit different and mainstream in presentation, but know that your basic...Kest workout is still there. If you are not familiar with Brian Kest and Power Yoga, this is a body and mind workout. You set the pace and you challenge yourself. As Brian Kest says, the most important thing is the breath, if you don't get anything else from the video, you get the breath and a feeling of relaxation and calm. Slowly you can incorporate the poses and you will find a workout that calms you and makes you sweat and tones your muscles. I have found that this workout in particular leaves me feeling very loose and stretches my muscles a lot. The balancing poses are challenging (!) but fun. If you are really doing the workout you won't notice the cheesy set, and if you are more advanced, then modify your poses from the easier ones that are shown sometimes. It is a good workout.
Movie Review: This is a WONDERFUL yoga workout! Summary: 5 StarsI became a fan of Bryan Kest's videos with his 1995 Power Yoga series (I have both TONE and SWEAT), so when I saw this one I bought it. Wow! What a wonderful workout--a great addition to the ones I already have. He does a better job with showing modifications on this video for those who can't do the maximum in each pose. It's a workout that makes you sweat, but the great thing about yoga is that you can also take it easy if you want and still get some benefit. After I finish this tape I always feel incredible. I highly recommend this video to people of moderate fitness level and above. I also love his original Power Yoga series, which I mentioned before, so I recommend them all if you're looking for a bit of variety.
