VHS Movie Reviews of Best of Kids in the Hall [VHS]Movie Review: Funny! Summary: 4 StarsI'm not quite sure how they chose these four episodes as the "best" of this brilliant Canadian comedic sketch troupe. The compilers were bound to miss many fan favorites, but they would have come nearer the mark had they assembled seperate sketches rather than present full episodes complete with credits and the inevitable weak bit. Oh, well. Dave Foley, Mark McKinney, Bruce McCulloch, Scott Thompson, and Kevin McDonald rarely disappoint and any collection of their material is bound to contain lots of laughs.
Movie Review: They are funny as hell and sexy as hell! ---teenage girl Summary: 5 StarsI've been a fan of kith for awhile....I wasn't from the very beginning cuz I was 3 in 1989, but I turned 18 just recently and I watch alot of Comedy Central now so I can watch an episode of Kids in the Hall. Let me just say that they rule, they are the funniest guys ever, they are extremely talented, and they are so damn gorgeous. I love the show. Besides the chick Joce, I am too a big fan of them. Its better than SNL, monty python, and that new show Hollow Men put together. Honestly, Hollow men sucks. But I'll forever love kids in the hall. I think David and Kevin are the hottest. Thanks for bringing your comedy to America cuz its funnier than this countrys comedy. ---------Alessa Leigh Hale*********
Movie Review: Second only to Godliness. (Is 'Godliness' a word?) Summary: 5 StarsI'm in loooove, I'm in loooove, I'm in loooooooooooooooooove...If you get this tape, you will NOT be dissapointed. It doesn't matter if you're Indonesian, Australian, Alaskan or... yes... even Canadian. It doesn't matter if you have a missing limb, or if you keep getting that disturbingly off-color toenail fungus. You WILL enjoy this tape. You WILL. .... Really. You will. heheheee... btw, I love the fact that so many people who commented on this product are Canadian. ^_^ GO CANADA!! BUY THIS TAPE!! You'll like it. YOU WILL. *_*
Movie Review: If you don't love KITH, you are *clearly insane*! Summary: 5 StarsI'm crushing your head!!! You're a flat head! Oh...sorry...just a little KITH instinct welling up there. Anyway, The Kids are the smartest, funniest, most provocative skit troupe ever (Yes, Monty Python was awesome to) If you don't find it funny you are just...what's the word...different...not funny...oh never mind, it makes me mad just thinking about it! How could anyone NOT love The Kids? Dave, so cute, dark, sarcastic. Mark, so talented, hot, intelligent. Bruce, so athletic, musical, wise. Scott, so open, adorable, new. And Kevin so...so...Kevin! Anyway, great movie, buy now. KITH rules!
Movie Review: Best damned skit comedy ever! Summary: 5 StarsThis video is proof positive that Canadians are much funnier per capita then Americans. The Headcrusher bits alone are worth the purchase price. Brilliant!
Summary of Best of Kids in the Hall [VHS]Who's the cutest boy on death row? That's the burning question asked by five giggling teenage girls hanging out in a bedroom with a handful of black-and-white mug shots spread out on the floor. Thing is, all the girls are played by middle-aged men; they all appear in the photos; and their imitation of a peculiarly thoughtless kind of sexual obsession among adolescents provides a weird thrill of recognition as well as a chuckle over its outdated excessiveness. But that's the m.o.?of the Kids in the Hall: to mock stereotypes at the same time as they perfectly inhabit them. The Canadian comedy troupe had a TV show from 1989 to 1995 on both HBO and the CBC. Four complete and unedited early episodes are collected on The Best of the Kids in the Hall. They all follow the same format--a short skit to get viewers' attention (such as "It's a Fact: My Uncle Tony Can Spit Real Far") followed by longer skits, some with continuing characters, punctuated by instrumental breaks (courtesy of the band Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet) and monologues by the various cast members: Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson. The video introduces a number of familiar KITH personages: the Headcrusher, a lonely man who lurks in public places and pretends to squash people's heads between his thumb and forefinger; the Chicken Lady, a mutant who likes male escorts; Cabbagehead, a cigar-smoking sexist pig who tries to get laid by means of pity over his deformity; Buddy Cole, the cigarette-smoking, martini-swilling, lisping barfly whose homocentric monologues make queens scream. But perhaps the funniest (and longest) of the skits involves the retelling of scenes from an Italian movie starring Francesca Fiore and Bruno Puntz Jones, whose bad accents--and eventual invasion of the bar where the retelling takes place--epitomize the perfect blend of the clever and the chaotic that only the Kids in the Hall can pull off. --Robert Burns Neveldine
