Movie Review: "You make me want to be a better man" Summary: 5 Stars"As Good as It Gets" is Funny, insigthful, romantic, ... the main plot involves the encounter of an artistic man in his fifties who suffers from severe obsessive-compulsive disorder with a morally-correct waitress in her early forties who's trying her best to care for her allergy-prone child and still have a life of her own. The most appealing aspect of the movie is the realization that through a connection with another person ('love') one is able to overcome the difficulties and neurosis that alone, he or she may never had the courage or willingness to address. This movie is famous for the performance of both Helen Hunt and Jack Nicholson, including his line " You make me want to be a better man," which is a turning point in the movie when Jack's character undergoes a Self-realization that allows him to surpass his disorder limitations.

Movie Review: "Just Two People Who Like Warm Rolls" ~ A Love Story For The Obsessive-Compulsive Summary: 5 StarsThe '97 release 'As Good As It Gets' is an immensely entertaining and touching comedy romance with the rare ability to make you cry and laugh simultaneously. The storyline will hold your attention from beginning to end, the dialoque is crisp and original with a mulitude of memorable lines and Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt and Greg Kinnear all deliver superb performances. Simply a marvelous film you will enjoy more and more with each repeat viewing!
An essential purchase for your permanent DVD library.
Movie Review: okay movie Summary: 3 Starsthis was an okay movie. it had some funny parts in it, but other than that it was okay.
Summary of As Good As It GetsNew, in original shrink wrap! For all of its conventional plotting about an obsessive-compulsive curmudgeon (Jack Nicholson) who improves his personality at the urging of his gay neighbor (Greg Kinnear) and a waitress (Helen Hunt) who inspires his best behavior, this is one of the sharpest Hollywood comedies of the 1990s. Nicholson could play his role in his sleep (the Oscar he won should have gone to Robert Duvall for The Apostle), but his mischievous persona is precisely necessary to give heart to his seemingly heartless character, who is of all things a successful romance novelist. As a single mom with a chronically asthmatic young son, Hunt gives the film its conscience and integrity (along with plenty of wry humor), and she also won an Oscar for her wonderful performance. Greg Kinnear had to settle for an Oscar nomination (while cowriter-director James L. Brooks was inexplicably snubbed by Oscar that year), but his work was also singled out in the film's near-unanimous chorus of critical praise. It's questionable whether a romance between Hunt and the much older Nicholson is entirely believable, but this movie's smart enough--and charmingly funny enough--to make it seem endearingly possible. --Jeff Shannon
